A DEESIDE business aims to improve the environment and do their bit to clean the local area.

Staff at Magma Granite, based at Deeside Industrial Estate, have planned a litter pick after hearing the impacts of increased plastic use on the environment.

Donna Parry, office administrator, said: "We are going to go around and clean up a bit. We were reading information about rubbish and plastic and we've always wanted to do something about it, we do a lot in work and we just wanted to go a bit further and help the environment and the area where we live.

"I take the dog for a walk at lunch and everywhere we go there is congestion with litter and plastic bottles so we thought that would be a good place to start.

"We are hoping to start doing this once a month and going to different places and try and get other people involved."

Magma Granite is a family-run business specialising in natural stones used for worktops.

The first clean-up is set to take place after Easter at the Industrial Estate but other places will be advertised on social media for members of the public to get involved.

Donna added: "Our business uses a lot of plastics and water but we make sure we recycle everything.

"We realise the impact that plastic has on the environment and we all think it's important to spread the word and get more people involved to do their bit.

"The facts are quite shocking, it's time we all stepped up to do our bit."
