A PRIMARY school has donated £1,000 to a local hospice following an Easter themed charity event.

Acton Park Primary School held a sponsored bunny hop around their school field to raise money for Nightingale House, a hospice in Wrexham that provides specialist palliative care services, completely free-of-charge, to patients and their families.

Pupils of all year groups were invited to dress up in Easter clothes or bunny ears and hop around the field as many times as they could.

Parents were invited to join their children if they wanted as well, with the event being organised by the PTA who are also raising funds to buy new reading books for the children.

In total, the school raised £2,500 and a donation of £1,000 was made to Nightingale House Hospice.

Diane Millington, Year 6 Teaching Assistant, said: “The kids loved the event, I think the weather was a big reason for that, it was such a lovely day and perfect weather for it.

“A few of the kids bunny-hopped around the field, but a lot of them chose to walk which is understandable.

“We actually got the idea for the bunny hop from Nightingale House’ reindeer run that they did over Christmas.

“We’re so happy to have raised the amount we have. We chose Nightingale House as a lot of the families of this school have been touched by them in some way, shape or form over the years, and they have been very grateful for the donation we have made."
