A RANGE of Easter activities are to be held in a Flintshire town centre.

Mold Town Council is inviting residents to enjoy an Easter fun day on Good Friday (April 19) from 1pm to 3pm on Daniel Owen Square.

There will be a variety of family attractions including free children’s Easter activities, entertainment from DJ Cookie and DJ Cue, free facepainting from Glitterbugz and a special visit from the Easter Bunny, as well as refreshments.

The event is hosted by Mold Town Council mayor's save a life, make a difference appeal and the charity The Counselling Hub

In addition to offering a range of fun and games for families, the event also aims to raise awareness of mental health with its Time2Talk activities.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "Mental health issues are on the increase in the UK, between 2003 and 2013, 18,220 people with mental health problems took their own life in the UK.

"In 2017, 5,821 suicides were recorded in Great Britain.

"Suicide rates in Wales are the second highest among the regions of the UK.

"Of these, 75 per cent were male and 25 per cent were female.

"Suicide is the most common cause of death for men aged 20-49 years in England and Wales.

"One person in fifteen had made a suicide attempt at some point in their life.

"The more money raised, the more people The Counselling Hub can help.

"The charity has been and continues to help people in our area, please help us change these statistics.

"Mold over the last few years has unfortunately seen a significant rise in suicides, in particular males under 40.

"The Mold Town Council Mayoral Appeal this year is aiming to raise awareness of mental health and the services available to help.

"We are also aiming to help reduce the stigma of talking about mental health with a number of initiatives and appeals.

"It’s Time2Talk – help us raise awareness of mental health."
