FUNERAL arrangements have been made for a “model pupil” from Flintshire who has died suddenly at the age of 15.

And the parents of Abby Beaumont, a Year 10 pupil of Mold Alun School, have made it clear it will be a celebration of the Pantymwyn resident’s life and no black or formal clothes should be worn.

According to the family, Abby died ‘suddenly but peacefully’ at home on Tuesday, April 2.

She leaves her parents Darren and Alison, her sister Jess and grandparents Betty and Bob.

Her father Darren said: “Abby was a beautiful and lovely young girl full of promise. It was just last week that we [her parents] were sat at her school parent’s evening and they could not speak highly enough of her. She was a bright girl and was on track to do well with her upcoming GCSE exams.

“We are a very close-knit family who enjoyed spending time together and doing various activities at the weekend. We always made time for one another.”

The family said that Abby was a talented linguist, picking up the French and Welsh languages quickly.

She was also very fond of travelling, having visited the United States several times with her parents and sister.

Mr Beaumont added: “She loved the American way of life and enjoyed our regular family trips there. Abby loved all the shops, theme parks and was a big Disney fan.”

There will be family flowers only at the funeral service and cremation at Flintshire Memorial Park at noon on Wednesday, April 17, with donations to the Alder Hey Children’s Charity in Liverpool.

Pupils at Mold Alun School held a tribute on Sunday, April 7, where balloons and lanterns were released in memory of Abby.

Mr and Mrs Beaumont said they were touched by the level of maturity and compassion shown by the students who were friends with their daughter.

Jane Cooper, headteacher at the Alun School, said: “The school community was shocked and immensely saddened to hear of Abby’s death.

“Abby was a model pupil of whom we were incredibly proud. Her teachers appreciated her studious and hardworking nature and enjoyed teaching her very much.

“She will be greatly missed and we wish to extend our thoughts and condolences to Abby’s family and friends at this saddest of times.

“The Alun School has a strong and close community and is supporting students and staff as they try to come to terms with this sad loss.

Claire Homard, Flintshire Council’s chief officer for education and youth, said: “It is with deep regret that the authority has been advised of the tragic death of Abby Beaumont, a Year 10 pupil at The Alun School, Mold, and I offer my condolences to the family and to the school community on their sad loss.

"Our thoughts are with the family and the school at this time.”

She added that the council is working with the school in order to ensure pupils and staff are fully supported.
