HELP is being sought to help give a National Trust estate a spring spruce up.

Erddig volunteers are looking for some help to keep the 1,200-acre estate clean and tidy as part of Spring Clean Cymru on 16 April 2019.

Working with partners Keep Wales Tidy and Wrexham Council they need to find #LitterHeroes to clean the nature-rich oasis on the edge of Wrexham town.

Spring Clean Cymru is a great way to get some exercise outdoors, meet new people and make a difference to our parkland. So for anyone who loves the countryside, hates litter and has a few hours spare on Tuesday, April 16, then the Erddig team would love to see them at 10.30am.

Spring Clean Cymru, March 22 to April 23),is part of the Great British Spring Clean. In 2018, around 370,00 #LitterHeroes joined forces – despite the 'Beast from the East' – to collect litter at 13,500 events across the UK.

This year’s campaign will not only see tonnes of litter being removed from the environment on our doorstep, it also aims to rescue thousands of the plastic bottles and aluminium drinks cans that are simply thrown on the ground but could, very easily, be recycled.

Katie Rees-Jones, Volunteer and Community Involvement Officer at Erddig said: “With 1,200 acres of beautiful parkland, a range of habitats and countryside walks, we offer a wealth of hidden treasures for the local community to enjoy. Litter is an ongoing challenge for our estate team and this event will make a huge difference, and hopefully be a lot of fun too.”

Lesley Jones Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive said: “The value of a good quality environment can’t be underestimated. It not only affects the look and feel of a place but has a significant and far-reaching impact on wildlife, our health and wellbeing and the local economy.”
