AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a pensioner died after falling off his bike into a canal.
John Gittins, coroner for North Wales East and Central, said he had not been told the exact location of the incident on March 31 but 79-year-old Raymond Langford had been riding along the towpath.
He fell into the water and was unconscious when passers-by pulled him out.
He suffered a cardiac arrest but the passers-by and paramedics carried out successful CPR.
However Mr Langford, a retired driver from Russell Street, Cefn Mawr, suffered another cardiac arrest in the emergency department at Wrexham Maelor Hospital and died the following day.
The inquest at Ruthin was adjourned to a full hearing later in the year.
