PROPOSED flats will be out of character in street, a town councillor has said.

At their monthly meeting, Shotton town councillors expressed concern over a planning application for the higher Shotton ward, Plough Lane.

The proposed construction of a two storey building for two, one bedroom flats was received by the council on march 6.

Cllr Ron Evans said: "Personally I believe it will be out of character there will be traffic issues because it's right on the corner on a bend. It's very busy."

Councillors voted in favour of objecting the application.

Concerns were also raised over an application for consent to display an advertisement at Deeside Retail Park.

Cllr Gillian Brockley said: "Is it really obvious, is it going to stand out? It could be really ugly, we don't know what it looks like."

However, Cllr David Evans said they did not look controversial or problematic.

Cllr Elwyn Jones added: "They have to have permission off highway authority anyway."

Councillor voted in favour of consent for advertising as well as the change of use from a three bedroom semi-detached house to two flats at Allans Close.

Cllr Ron Davies said although there had been issues with parking, they had been resolved and no complaints were made.
