READERS have had their say on Wales Rally GB's decision to move part of its event out of Deeside.

The Leader reported last week that the motorsport's service park is to move to Llandudno this year.

Askar Sheibani, managing director and CEO of Comtek Network Systems and chairman of Deeside Business Forum (DBF), said he felt the decision made "no commercial or business sense".

Readers took to the Leader's Facebook page to have their say on the move.

Pat Povey posted: "How will they fit all this in Llandudno? Also, where will people park? "There’s never anywhere to park on a normal day - good luck everyone, you're gonna need it."

Richard Hogg posted: "Well, ranting and telling Wales Rally GB they are wrong, foolish and their decision makes no business sense is sure to get them to change their minds."

Nick Bradshaw posted: "It won't matter to real rally fans. Llandudno obviously brought more to the table than an empty space on an industrial estate."

Andrew Lindop added: "Llandudno has zero parking available.

"Took three hours to get out after the last sprint held there last year.

"It's a great retirement area for pensioners but awful for events."

Kayleigh Edwards said: "I'm gutted, it's gonna be a pain to get to now," while Angel Rose posted: "Bad move. They'll lose so many visitors moving from Deeside."

For the past six years, Wales Rally GB has been located next to the Toyota Engine Plant in Deeside, following the event’s revitalising switch to a new base in north Wales in 2013.

Hugh Chambers, chief executive of Motorsport UK (organiser and promoter of Wales Rally GB) said: "Motorsport UK is delighted to be bringing all the atmosphere and prestige of a World Rally Championship Service Park to Llandudno and to create an interactive fan zone in the town centre - but at the same time we must say a massive ‘thank you’ to all those at Toyota – as well as our local partners in Deeside topped by Flintshire County Council – for playing such a major role in helping us to re-establish the UK’s round as one of the true classics on the WRC calendar."
