A NORTH Wales law firm has gone the extra mile to help charities and clients in need.

Staff at Gamlins Law have completed over 1,000 hours of volunteering and given £1million of pro bono legal advice since launching the ‘Give with Gamlins’ initiative in January last year.

Free legal clinics are held every week in Rhyl, Abergele, Ruthin, Mold, Denbigh and Holywell, allowing members of the public to drop in and receive free legal advice.

The clinics provide guidance in several legal areas including family, employment, criminal and property.

The firm also partners with charities in the region including Cancer Research UK, Action for Children and Tenovus, providing supporters with advice on wills and Lasting Power of Attorney documents.

Gamlins Law staff also regularly get involved in charitable activities including cake sales, coffee mornings and dragon boat races, while also taking part in beach clean-ups and collections for food and clothing banks.

Ron Davison, Managing Director of Gamlins Law, said: "Give with Gamlins is achieving its aim of having a widespread impact throughout our communities.

"The campaign has assisted the young through to the elderly and the neediest in our society.

"The provision of free legal advice has changed lives, providing access to justice for people who had nowhere else to turn."

An anti-plastic initiative was also launched as part of ‘Give with Gamlins’ with the firm supplying all staff with reusable water bottles and coffee cups.

Members of the team are also encouraged to be as active as possible in their local communities. One example is Head of Employment Law Elissa Thursfield who is an RNLI crew member for Abersoch Lifeboat and commits 200 hours a year to training and attending call-outs, sometimes in working hours.

Mr Davison added: "The impact of our projects is intended to be long-lasting. The plastics initiative alone has seen us reduce our plastic output by 200kg a year.

"Give with Gamlins is now firmly embedded into the Gamlins Law way of life with a dedicated budget and a commitment to give our staff the time they need to support the causes that matter most to them."
