THIS year’s Airbus/Leader Community Awards have received a whole host of entries from good causes hoping to be in the running for a share of £20,000.

Those entries have now been shortlisted down to 10.

Each group will be featured over the next two weeks, with a voting form set to appear in the paper and online after each entry has been featured.

So make sure the group/organisation you think is the most deserving of the large cash prizes up for grabs gets your vote....

A COMMUNITY group from Chirk is one of 10 finalists for the Airbus and Leader Community Awards.

Chirk Community Forum is looking to build a disability inclusive swing for less able children from Chirk.

The idea behind the swing is that it allows children of all abilities to play together, but a swing designed for such a specific purpose can cost up to £13,000.

Chairperson of Chirk Community Forum, Jackie Allen, said: "To the group getting nominated as a finalist means an awful lot.

"If we do get a swing, it will allow children to play together in an inclusive environment. This money would go a long way towards making that happen.

"We believe this project to be highly innovative, given that we believe it will be the only wheelchair-friendly swing in North East Wales.

"Children of all abilities should have the chance to mix, socialise and learn in an all inclusive environment.

"In delivering this project, we will be enriching not only our own community, but that of the surrounding area.

"I'm over the moon that we've been selected as a finalist."
