FLINT Coastguard Rescue Team had a busy evening on Friday when they were called out to separate incidents within hours.

The first call for assistance came shortly after 7pm when the team were tasked by HM Coastguard along with Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team to reports of a kite surfer who was missing in the dark just off New Brighton.

Crews from both RNLI Lifeboat stations in New Brighton and Hoylake joined the search, but shortly after commencement, it became apparent the kite surfer had drifted and come ashore near to Fort Perch Rock and was safe and well.

However, within two hours of being home, the Flint volunteers were called into action again, this time just before 11pm to reports of a person possibly entering the water in Rhyl.

A spokesman for Flint Coastguard Rescue Team said: "On scene person was located near the waters edge who was then seen heading inland, suffering a serious fall and requiring urgent medical attention.

"Coastguard Rescue Officers and Lifeboat Crew administered first aid until the arrival of Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust Paramedics, person was then transported to hospital."
