WINNERS of the annual Mold Pancake Day race have received their prizes.

Twenty-four teams of adults and children were in Daniel Owen Square on March 5 competing to be crowned the champion pancake flipper and the winners claimed their prizes today at Spavens Sweet Shop, in King Street.

The adult winners, from Tate and Lyle, claimed a hamper of sweets to share between them.

The junior winners, four schoolchildren from Ysgol Glan Yr Afon, were presented with smaller individual cones of sweets.

Mayor of Mold, Cllr Karen Hodgkinson, presented the prizes to the worthy winners.

She said: “The pancake race is something very important to the people of Mold and I am very proud of the effort that goes into the event. It was great fun taking part in the race myself and I want to say a big congratulations for everyone who came along and got involved in this town tradition”
