A THREE-vehicle collision caused gridlock and the temporary closure of one of the region's main road arteries.
A North Wales Police spokesman said the accident happened shortly before 3pm on Thursday when a Renault Master van, a DAF truck and a BMW 3 Series collided by junction 1 of the A483, near to Ruabon.
It resulted in the closure of the road in both directions between there and the A5 Halton roundabout. The shutdown lasted for two-and-a-half hours.
The police spokesman added no-one was injured in the accident and the road had been closed to allow for vehicles to be recovered safely.
North Wales Police said on Twitter at the time: "The road is currently closed in both directions.
"There is congestion in the area and motorists are advised to use alternative routes."
However, at around 5.30pm Traffic Wales confirmed the road had been reopened, although severe congestion remained.
