PUPILS and staff at St Christopher's School in Wrexham were presented with a brand new wheelchair accessible minibus donated by leading youth cricket and disability sports charity, the Lord’s Taverners.
The school, which is regarded by many as a centre of excellence, is the largest specialist educational needs school in Wales and caters for pupils aged 6-19, who have physical and learning disabilities.
TV star, Nick Hancock, and Deputy Mayor of Wrexham, Rob Walsh, made the presentation along with members of the local Lord’s Taverners and Lady Taverners committees, with guests hearing of the positive impact the new minibus will have on pupils' lives, by taking them out into the local community to enjoy sailing classes, indoor skiing lessons, school visits and other sporting events.
Acting school headteacher Jeff Eggington said: “Its a fantastic occasion and I am delighted the whole school can be part of this minibus presentation.
"Everyone associated with the school has worked extremely hard, fundraising over six months and I am extremely thankful for the generosity and hard work of Lord’s Taverners members who continue to be highly valued friends and supporters of our school."
