A FLINTSHIRE motorist with a track record of ignoring driving bans has been handed a 14-week custodial sentence.
Shaun Christopher Lloyd appeared via video link at North East Wales Magistrates Court as he was already in prison after breaching a suspended sentence imposed in December for driving while disqualified.
The Wrexham court was told that police received information that soon after his previous conviction Lloyd was driving a Ford transit.
An officer recognised him driving the vehicle on Shotton Lane in Shotton with the van later being found parked up on the driveway of his partner’s house.
Lloyd, 33, of School Lane, Greenfield, initially claimed he was not at the wheel and he had an alibi to cover the time of the offences.
But he pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, without insurance and without a licence on December 17.
The court was told that owing to a breach of the suspended sentence Lloyd had been taken into custody on January 18.
Magistrates said his new sentence will run concurrently which will extend his stay behind bars and they also imposed a 12-month ban to run concurrently with the one previously imposed.
