A BUCKLEY resident received a visit from a senior councillor as she celebrated a milestone occasion.
The Chairman of Flintshire Council, Cllr Paul Cunningham and his consort Joan Cunningham helped Evelyn Atkinson (nee James) to celebrate her 100th birthday recently.
Evelyn was born in Heeley Bank Sheffield on March 7, 1919, to Florence and William James.
She went to school in Sheffield and then got a job as a secretary in an office of a company selling tools.
As well as enjoying playing the piano to a good standard she always liked rambling with a rambling club and cycling to keep fit.
She married her first husband Rene at aged 20 and had three children, Stephen, Phillip and Sylvia.
Evelyn has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In later life, she met her childhood sweetheart and they married in 1991 in the Plas Hafod Mold, spending many happy years together.
She came to live at Marleyfield House, Buckley, in January 2019.
