A MAJOR fundraiser is giving fans the chance to bid for shirts signed by Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk, and the late goalkeeping great Gordon Banks, to audience tickets for Soccer AM and a Hollyoaks experience.

It is all part of a special event on Sunday, March 31 when a Hollyoaks XI will take on former international footballers such as Trevor Sinclair, Danny Murphy and other celebrities including actor David Morrissey, at Chester FC’s Swansway Stadium from 2.30pm.

As well as the football the event will be packed with entertainment, with organisers hoping it will be the perfect Mother's Day treat for the whole family to enjoy.

The event is to raise awareness and funds for the Offside Trust which works to combat child abuse in sport and support the healing journey of survivors.

Former Crewe Alexandra professional Steve Walters, who lives in Wrexham and has coached in Flintshire, is a co-founder of the Trust, and he says tickets for the game would make the ideal Mother's Day present as it is an event the whole family can enjoy.

He said: "It's not just about the football, there is something for all members of the family, and all age ranges to enjoy.

"It is a chance to meet and greet some of your favourite stars from the world of football, TV and showbiz.

"There are also some great prizes in the auction and the bidding starts now, right up to after the game on March 31."

Last year Steve worked with Channel 4 show Hollyoaks as an advisor on a storyline which mirrored the experience of survivors subjected to abuse in childhood.

He added that the show has been very supportive of the fundraiser and has been key to keeping the subject in the public eye in the last year.

Other auction prizes include Manchester City shirts signed by Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi, a Tottenham shirt signed by the whole squad, and a Manchester United shirt signed by the whole squad

As well as the football, entertainment will include singer in Ellie Dibben, Britain's Got Talent star Paul Manners.

Tickets to the event are £10 for adults, £3 for children (age five to 17) and children under five go free.
