A RENOWNED Wrexham car boot sale could be held more often if plans are given the go-ahead.

Wrexham Council has received a planning application seeking to increase the number of car boot sales held at Bryn Y Grog Farm near Marchwiel, from 14 times a year to up to 22 times a year.

In a design and access statement submitted by the applicants, part-time employment opportunities could also increase.

It states: "The proposal comprises a change of use of the site for 22 Sunday's per year for the use of the land as a car boot and car park area on the northern section of the site.

"It is proposed the site is divided into two parts - a car boot and a car park area within the northern section of the site, and an area for overspill car parking within the southern section of the site.

"Each car boot sale would operate between the hours of 6am and 2pm only for 22 Sunday's per year.

"There are currently four part-time staff employed to run the car boot sales on the site.

"It is anticipated that the increase to the number of car boot sales held per year from 14 to 22 would result in the employment of two additional part-time staff. Therefore a total of six part-time staff would be employed."

When not used for car boot sales, the land is used as agricultural land.

Wrexham Council's planning committee will make a decision on the change of use application at a future date.
