A 24-YEAR-OLD Wrexham woman who was part of a major 'County Lines' drugs gang has been jailed for a total of seven years.

Toni Casey, of Churchill Drive, Caia Park, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin and cocaine and to producing cannabis at a drugs factory in the town.

The value of drugs found was almost £8,000 and more than £40,000 in cash had been seized from the gang.

Prosecutor Sarah Badrawy described at Caernarfon Crown Court how a mobile phone number gave “flash messages” for users.

In April last year a cannabis factory had been discovered by police in a raid on a house in Mount Pleasant, with tents in two bedrooms.

Stephen Edwards, defending, said there were people much older than Casey in the conspiracy.

Her schooling in the Wrexham area had suffered because of behavioural and other difficulties and she had been diagnosed with psychosis.

“She had no settled life for two years, was a young vulnerable female and an ideal recruit for the County Lines model,” he said.

“She was not pulling the strings.”

While on remand in Styal prison she had been beaten up by another woman who had now been moved to another jail.

Mr Edwards said: “She says she wants to re-set her life, to start again. She is seeking a new life.”

Passing sentence Judge Timothy Petts said between the end of 2017 and spring of 2018 she had been involved with others in a large scale class A drugs conspiracy.

“I take the view you were more of a significant role than a leading role, one of the leading managers than a director, more of a foot soldier.”

Casey was jailed for five years and 11 months for conspiracy with consecutive terms of a year for producing cannabis and a month for failing to surrender to bail.

Last October a ringleader was jailed for 14 years and his No 2 for 11 years for conspiracy and other offences.
