EAGLE-EYED rugby fans can look out for Flint at the start of this weekend’s Six Nations match against England.

Flint Male Voice Choir took part in filming the opening sequence for the BBC’s coverage of the Wales v England match today (Saturday).

The filming took place on Wednesday afternoon in the grounds of Flint Castle, with nearby residents and passers-by intrigued at the sight of 40-man choir and a TV production crew.

Nigel Skinner, secretary of the choir, said: “This came about as something separate to the performance we will be giving at the Millennium Stadium. We are honoured to have been chosen to represent our town, our people and our country at this great sporting event.

“I am happy that Flint Castle will also get a little feature in this video as I think it is such a wonderful building.”

The group has been chosen out of 40 other Welsh choirs to travel to Cardiff where they will sing Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau directly before kick-off in front of around 70,000 rugby fans.

The men have performed before at the Stade de France before France v Wales games, but this is the first opportunity they’ve had to sing in front of a home crowd.

The choir said they are always on the lookout for new members and encouraged people to contact them on 07939 205068 with any enquires.

Catch the choir during the opening sequence and their performance ahead of the Wales v England Six Nations on BBC One, kick-off 4.45pm.
