POLICE Sergeant encourages people to keep coming forward with information following two successful warrants.

North Wales Police is continuing to crack down on County Lines, which is the supply of drugs into rural areas from larger cities such as Merseyside.

Sgt Gavin Gilmore, of the South Flintshire Policing team, said they conducted two positive drugs warrants on Tuesday, February 19 at Chester Road, Buckley.

He said this would not have been possible without information from the local community, but too often people are scared to come forward.

He added: "It was a great result really because it came from intelligence from the local community and that's what we want to try and push.

"I think there a bit of a misconception around giving information to police, people think if they speak to us we then use their personal information which is where the issue comes from I think, but that's the beauty of Crime Stoppers, everything is confidential.

"We get that intelligence and we review it, it's all confidential, we never disclose where out intelligence has come from.

"They can provide us with what they have seen, heard and know and then we do our bit to deliver it to a point where we can action it."

Both warrants in the Buckley area were positive for drugs and two males were questioned by police for possession with intent to supply, but were released under investigation.

From both warrants a quantity of cannabis was recovered, class A drugs, money and mobile devices and the Sgt confirmed it is part of their ongoing work to tackle the issue of County Lines.

He said: "We have PCSO's in the community speaking to members of the public and staff from local businesses but it's a difficult one. Members of the community do find it difficult to come forward with information I think."

A new operation called OpRacer has also been launched by the force which aims to crack down on the supply of drugs in the Mold area.

The Sgt said this is carrying on from Operation Luxuries, which was launched in 2017, and several warrants have already been carried out in the Mold area and surrounding villages.

Anyone with information or concerns can contact North Wales Police on 101 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 11.
