COMMUNITY councillors have come out strongly against a plan to build 600 homes on the outskirts of Wrexham.

County Cllr Mike Davies told Acton Community Council: “I think the developers are jumping the gun while the Wrexham Development Plan (LDP) is still under consultation by the authority."

County Cllr Geoff Lowe said such a big development was wrong as the area did not have the public services required such as doctors, dentists and schools.

He said there had been discussions about the LDP at Wrexham Council level and concerns had emerged about the number of homes planned and a lack of public services.

Developers Barrett and Bloor have submitted the plan for the homes on the Holt Road opposite Wrexham Golf Club and going south towards Holt.

The proposal also includes associated landscaping, public open space and on-site infrastructure with all matters reserved except from the northern site.

Wrexham Council is due to consider the plan in the near future but the community council unanimously decided to recommend objections.
