AN Assembly Member is looking forward to getting his football boots on to raise money for charity.

On March 31 a Hollyoaks XI team will face off against The Offside Trust XI at Chester FC's Swansway Stadium.

The event will be held to support the Offside Trust which was set up in 2016 following high-profile revelations about child sexual abuse in football and the organisation aims to support survivors of abuse and working to make sport safer for children.

Jack Sargeant, AM for Alyn and Deeside, has signed up to take part in the event and he said he is looking forward to it.

He told the Leader: "I'm proud to be able to support the great work Steve Walters, Chris Unsworth and the team at The Offside Trust. I am looking forward to getting my football boots back on and hope to see as many residents of Alyn and Deeside at the match as possible.

"I would urge the community to get behind the charity by coming to Chester FC to support us."

Kick off will be at 2.30pm, and stars already confirmed for the Offside Trust XI include footballers Danny Murphy and Trevor Sinclair and actors David Morrissey and Jamie Lomas.

The Hollyoaks XI squad is set to include Gary Lucy, Nick Pickard and Kieron Richardson.

Tickets cost £10 for Adults, £3 Children (Aged 5-17 Years) and Under 5s can attend for free.
