HOLYWELL bingo players can look forward to brand new seats after an incredible response to their desperate appeal.

The Leader previously reported that the Greenfield Community Centre bingo club, run by Sheena Wallbanks every Friday evening, were in ‘desperate need’ of some new chairs as the current ones – that have been in use for more than ten years – are literally falling apart.

Since the appeal was launched by the town mayor, Cllr Rosetta Dolphin, the club has since been offered several chairs – with 24 from Holywell Community Hospital and up to 20 from Connah’s Quay Church.

She said: “Myself and Sheena have been overwhelmed with the kind response of the community. It is a true testament of someone’s character when they choose to make a donation and shows that people are willing to pull together and help others.”

Cllr Dolphin said that the club is looking to secure up to 70 new chairs. She has applied for funding but says that these donations would help alleviate the cost and give the second-hand pieces of furniture a new lease of life.

The mayor added: “It would be great if any residents or any businesses who are about to throw away some old chairs with would kindly consider donating them to the community centre.”
