A CHARITY aims to further help their local community after receiving a grant from a supermarket.

Cadets for the St John Cymru Deeside and Mold Division celebrated after winning £500 from the Green Token Count at Asda Queensferry which will go towards benefitting the entire division and the work they do for their local area.

Every few months the store allows nominees to be put forward for voting from customers which sees a first prize of £500.

Tracy Sankey-Jones, cadet leader, said: "We applied for the green token so we could upgrade our training kit.

"We are planning to buy a child choking vest so the younger members can help a choking casualty and and update our CPR dolls so that kids can practise how to save another child's life.

"I was so surprised when we found out we had won and I'm proud of everyone. We are all so thrilled and it's nice that the money we got won't just stay within St John Cymru it will benefit adults and children across the community. It will help everyone."
