PLANS are in place to celebrate St. David’s Day in Flint this week.

Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam, in partnership with Flintshire County Council and Flint Town Council, have organised an event which also celebrates Welsh culture, youth and identity in Flint town centre on Friday, February 22.

This year, the celebration will be in Church Street, with staging set in front of St Mary’s Church and will begin at 10am.

There is a very warm welcome to all to join in the fun with Welsh themed performances from local schools and musicians. The Mayor of Flint will announce the winners of the St. David’s window decorating competition during the event.

Gill Stephen, Chief Officer at Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam, said: "There is a warm welcome for people of all ages to join in the fun again this year, whether they are Welsh speakers or not. This extremely popular event is an opportunity for everyone in Flint to celebrate the Welsh identity of the town.

“There is also still time for businesses to contact us to register and receive their free starter pack in order to take part in the Window Dressing Competition. The idea is to decorate the shop windows on a St David's Day theme and the winning businesses will receive an award and a prize."
