A GROUP of metal detectorists have been proudly showing off their finds.

The Rotary Club of Llangollen, with the kind permission of local farmers, organised the events at Trevor Ucha Farm in Trevor and Abbey Farm in Llangollen.

The Historical Search Society of Mold, along with other local groups, spent two cold days on the local hillsides in challenging weather conditions but managed to find a variety of different objects, including several coins and artefacts dating back hundreds of years.

Geoff Bullen, Rotary Officer said: "These very professional, knowledgeable and dedicated men and women follow strict codes of conduct to safeguard farm land and to ensure any valuable/historical finds are reported to the authorities.

"They are more interested in the history rather than the monetary value of objects found."

It is for those reasons, Llangollen Rotary are happy to form a partnership in order to raise money for good causes, both locally and internationally, and thanks to all those involved, £730 was raised over the two days.

Further events are planned but the club are always searching for willing land owners.
