A PENSIONER and his neighbour have been waiting for more than a year to have their fence mended.

Harry Frazer Curtis, who lives in a Wrexham Council property at Whalley’s Way, Acrefair says the fence dividing his home and next door fell down 15 months ago, yet despite repeated visits, the authority has yet to repair or replace it.

He said: “We are waiting on replacement fencing between the two houses, the fence has fallen down on the path between the two houses and you can’t use the gate.

“When I last spoke to someone last week, they said someone would be there on Monday but no-one turned up.

“After speaking to next door they said the inspector had been out twice about the fence, but when they called recently the council had no record of it. This has been going on for 15 months now.

“I then phoned the council’s repairs department and they said everything had been cancelled and they are waiting on a new inspector to start.”

He added: “I’ve lived here for 16 and a half years and I feel like I can’t get anything done yet over the road the council have been working on upgrading properties.”

“I’m 74, with an artificial hip and a pacemaker, my partner is 87 and we could do without this.”

A Wrexham Council spokesman said: “There have been some problems with arranging for these works to take place and we apologise that it has taken so long. The works will take place as soon as we have sufficient resources to make sure the works are completed.”
