A RAGING driver smashed up another man’s car with a baseball bat for 'cutting him up' at a junction, a court heard.

Samual Williams, 28, of Ryeland Street, Shotton, had been driving his Vauxhall Corsa on Liverpool Road in Chester on Sunday, October 13, when a Volvo pulled out in front of him.

The complainant said he noticed Williams continually beeping his horn and waving his arms.

Prosecuting at Chester Magistrates Court, Natalie Cassidy said the cars pulled over near the Total Fitness gym and the Queen’s Lower School.

Williams was then said to have walked towards the Volvo carrying a baseball bat and shouting: “You think you’re f***ing big lads don’t you?!

"I will take your f***ing heads off!”

He then swung the bat at one of the rear windows, smashing it, at which point the complainant jumped out and ran off.

Williams gave chase but then returned to the Volvo and set about smashing the windscreen in.

Members of the public – including teachers from the school – were present and the police were called to the scene.

Williams, who has previous convictions for property damage and battery, was later arrested and made full admissions in interview.

He pleaded guilty to three charges at a hearing on Friday: possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, using threatening behaviour and criminal damage.

Richard Thomas, defending, offered no mitigation as the case was deemed too serious for the lower courts and was sent to Chester Crown Court for sentence next month.

In the meantime the Probation Service will compile a pre-sentence report to aid the judge.

Williams was granted unconditional bail until his next court appearance.
