INCONSIDERATE parking is causing road rage hell in Shotton, a councillor has said.

Cllr Mike Evans, of the Shotton East Ward said cars are causing havoc across the town to not only pedestrians, but other motorists as well.

He told the Leader: "It's a big problem around my area, particularly going on to Shotton Lane it's a massive problem and has been for years.

"It's road rage hell. When the doctors surgery is open its murder round there.

"People are doing it and it's just inconsiderate. The thing that makes me laugh as well is the fact that they are brand new motor cars. I wouldn't dream of risking my car getting scratched, it's unbelievable."

Cllr Evans said the issue appears to be happening across Flintshire, not just Shotton, as the Golftyn Ward in Connah's Quay is having issues as well.

Restricted time zones could be put in place in areas across the Golftyn Ward which are causing problems in the area.

The Shotton councillor added: "Golftyn in Connah's Quay is also having problems and I think restricted time zones around schools is a sensible thing.

"Another problem is people parking on the pavements. Our streets weren't designed for cars, like Butler Street, it's very narrow due to being built in 1900s so it wasn't designed for cars. if you don't park on the pavements you cant fit emergency vehicles down so that's where sensibility comes into it.

"If Shotton lane club application goes through it's just going to be unbelievable."

The Leader has previously reported that an application to build 14 homes on the former Shotton Lane Social Club has been submitted to Flintshire County Council and objections were raised.

The councillor said he receives many complaints from local residents on a daily basis, but the situation is still ongoing.

He said: "The only way to deter people will be police presence or action. It's about educating people again though I know that's hard.

"We have got a busy area there and with people taking short cuts to avoid the main road traffic, it doesn't help.

"If I think I'm right then I don't believe I'm fighting a losing battle. I'm finding brick walls in front of me but we always knock brick walls down."
