A SCHOOL choir from Mold is to compete in a national competition.
Ysgol Maes Garmon's choir will leave early on Sunday morning to compete in S4C's Cor Cymru competition in Aberystwyth.
Nia Wyn Jones, head of music at the school, told the Leader: "We will be competing in the youth choir category - we had the preliminary audition before Christmas and we are one of only four school choirs in Wales to be taking part.
"The children have worked so hard, they have been practicing at lunch and on their breaks."
Llinos Cleary, a member of the school's senior management, added: "We're so proud of everyone, it is a huge thing for them and for the school.
"Thank you to all the parents and a special thank you to our accompanist Gareth Hughes who has been working with us."
