OFFICERS were called out to help a person in distress who had climbed up a telephone pole in Hawarden.
At around 6.20am on Wednesday North Wales Police officers were called to Overlea Drive to assist a woman suffering from 'a psychotic episode'.
Inspector Darren Whibberley, of the South Flintshire policing team, said: “Alongside colleagues from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, one of our officers managed to get the lady down safely and ensure that her mental health needs were addressed.”
Sgt Katie Newby attended the scene as a negotiator and helped talk the woman down. Her welfare is now being addressed by trained professionals.
She added: “I would like to thank residents in the street for cooperating with all requests made by police. They moved away and stopped looking from their windows. It made the job much easier and helped make the woman feel safer. Officers at the scene were very grateful.”
