A MOTHER has spoken of the terrifying moment a brick came flying through her front window as she sat with her new-born child.

The brick was thrown through the front window of Laura Davies’ house, on Nant Y Coed in Pen y Maes, near Holywell, at 9.15pm on Sunday, police said.

Ms Davies was sat in the front room holding her three-week-old baby when the brick was thrown, but thankfully all were unharmed.

The brick also narrowly missed the family’s dog, which was on its bed close to the window.

CCTV footage shows the alleged perpetrator, described as young adult male, pulling up in a silvery-white Ford Fiesta further down Nant Y Coed to pick up the brick, and was later seen driving off immediately after the incident.

Ms Davies, a science technician at Ysgol Maes Garmon in Mold, was watching television when incident occurred.

She explained: “We didn’t know what it was at first and thought it had come from the film we were watching.

“Then I thought a vase might have fallen off the window sill.

“Gareth (her partner) jumped up and had a look out of the window and he saw a silver driving away like an idiot.

“The dog’s bed is just under the window and the brick just missed his head.

“The curtains stopped the room from being showered in glass, but I was really scared because of the baby.”

Ms Davies has said the incident has left her both angry and shaken, and says there is no reason why someone would target her house.

She added: “We’re both really angry and worried about the kids. We’ve lived here for five years and never had any problems. We just keep ourselves to ourselves.

“I was so scared and even now, my heart is racing every time the door knocks and every time I hear any cars pulling up outside.

“I have no idea who or why someone would target us. We have no-one we have had disputes or anything with.

“The police said they couldn’t get any evidence from the brick but my neighbour has given their CCTV footage and the car is on that.”

Ms Davies has extended her thanks to Flintshire Council staff for their speedy action in securing the property.

She said: “I live in a council property and I am very thankful to the council for the very prompt reaction in initially coming out to secure the window and then to board it up the following day.”

A North Wales Police spokesman said: “We were called at 9.27pm on February 10 to property Nant Y Coed in Pen Y Maes, Holywell, to reports of criminal damage in the form of a brick being thrown the front window.

“A grey/white Ford Fiesta was seen driving off immediately afterwards. Enquiries into the incident are underway.”
