WREXHAM bus station is to receive almost £250,000 of essential repairs and refurbishment following grant approval from the Welsh Government’s Local Transport Network Fund.

Amongst a number of planned improvements, users of the bus station can look forward to refurbished toilets, new bins, real time information screens and an external clean-up. The station is one of the busiest in Wales providing for over 168,000 bus service departures and these improvements will go some way to ensuring the station continues to meet the needs and expectations of our customers.

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “This is excellent news and follows on from works last year to improve the lighting together with the re-opening of the Information Office. We are grateful to the Welsh Government for their recognition and support for one of the busiest bus stations in Wales.

“Despite what has been and continues to be a very challenging period for the local bus industry, this investment demonstrates both the Welsh Governments and Wrexham Council’s commitment and acknowledgement of the importance of local bus services to the people of Wrexham. I believe users and bus operators will welcome the improvements to refurbish and modernise.”

In addition to the works for visitors there will also be further essential repairs and refurbishment of the staff facilities and access arrangements.
