CONCERNS have been raised for the welfare of a missing woman.

Officers from the Cheshire Constabulary are appealing to the public to help find missing 68-year-old Valerie Welch from the Great Boughton area of Chester.

She was last seen at about 11.45am on Tuesday (February 5).

Known as Val, she is described as white, 5ft 6in tall with a proportionate build and has short brown hair.

A police spokesman said: "She is believed to be wearing a blue anorak with shiny buttons, light brown shoes and a beanie hat with sparkly flecks.

"Val normally wears glasses."

Inspector Cris Davies added: “We are very concerned for Val’s welfare and need to locate her.

“Extensive enquiries are being carried out in the Great Boughton and the wider Chester areas to find Val and I urge anyone with information that may help us to get in touch.

“If you have seen someone fitting her description, or think you know where she is, please come forward.

“I also appeal directly to Val to make contact with us as your family are very worried about you.”
