AN EVENING with a television presenter raised thousands of vital funds for an animal charity.
‘An evening with Iolo Williams’ took place at St David’s Park Hotel in Ewloe in a bid to raise money for Birders Against Wildlife Crime (BAWC).
And the event was a resounding success, with £5,000 raised for the charity.
Iolo Williams is a nature observer and is best known for his role as host of popular BBC show ‘Springwatch’.
Buckley man Gary Jones, a wildlife photographer, organised the evening.
He said: “I am so pleased to formally announce the total raised for the BAWC came to an amazing £5000.
“Thank you to everyone that supported the event, look out for the next one with Iolo.”
A spokesman for BAWC said: “The money will go to support the opposition of wildlife crime and I will make sure at least part of the funds specifically support bringing raptor persecution to the attention of a wider audience, of which the annual Hen Harrier events are an important part.”
