SCHOOLS across Flintshire have been closed due to the snow.

Heavy snow has fallen across North Wales overnight, causing hazardous driving conditions and motorists are being urged to drive with care.

Over 70 schools have been closed in the Flintshire region, including Southdown primary School, Buckley, Elfed High School, Buckley, Ysgol Bro Carmel, Drury Primary School and Nannerch V.C Primary School.

Ysgol Treffynnon and Holywell, Ysgol Maes y Felin have also closed for the day and Buckley, Mountain Lane Primary School, Lixwm Primary School, Flint, St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School and Northop Hall C.P. School.

Other school closures include: Treuddyn, Ysgol Terrig, Alun School, Flint, Cornist Park School, Treuddyn, Ysgol Parc y Llan, St John the Baptist Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School, Caerwys, Ysgol yr Esgob CW Voluntary Aided School, Hope, Castell Alun High School, Nercwys, St. Marys Nercwys Church in Wales and Whitford, Ysgol y Llan Church in Wales Voluntary Aided Primary School.

A total of 78 schools have been closed up to now with the latest being Greenfield, Ysgol Maesglas due to staff having difficulty getting to the school. It has closed for staff and pupil safety.

There are twenty schools across Wrexham that have also been closed due to the heavy snow, including: Pentre Voluntary Controlled - Chirk, Froncysyllte CP, Rhosnesni High School, Ysgol Bodhyfryd CP, St Josephs Catholic & Anglican High School, Bwlchgwyn CP, St Mary's Catholic Primary, Alexandra CP School, Ysgol Bryn Tabor, Park Community Primary School, Darland High School and Minera Voluntary Aided School.
