STRONG winds led to many roads being affected and events being postponed across the region.

Traffic across Flintshire and Wrexham has been affected by speed restrictions, road closures, fallen trees and power cuts on Sunday.

Workers were called out to remove a tree which had fallen into Plas Bennion Road, Penycae.

North Wales Police Wrexham Rural also tweeted about a fallen tree outside Rossett Hall, Rossett.

A Wrexham Rural spokesman said: "We have had numerous calls about fallen trees in the Wrexham rural area. Please take care when out and about."

Other people took to social media after trees have fallen on vehicles due to the strong winds.

Christopher King tweeted: "A bit windy in Moss Valley this morning.

"My dad's car not looking too good.

"Wrexham Council responded quickly with tree surgeons."

The Family Bushcraft and Trust 10k were also both cancelled at Chirk Castle.

A spokesman for the estate said on Twitter: "Due to forecast high winds Chirk Castle estate will be closed on Sunday.

“Our apologies for any disappointment.

“Due to the number of veteran trees on the estate, branches can fall in high winds."

High winds also caused a number of power cuts in the CH7 Mold area and CH8 area of Greenfield, Bagillt which left many residents without power while the issue was dealt with.

SP Energy Networks tweeted on Sunday morning that engineers were working on the problem to restore the supplies.

Speed restrictions were also put in place in some parts of the region and the Leader received reports of Flintshire Bridge being closed to the public.
