A MAN claimed that indecent images of children found on his laptop must have been there when he bought it second hand.

Police experts undertook a second analyses of the computer and proved that was wrong.

The operating system was in his name and there was evidence that more recent files had been created.

A separate hard drive was examined and the user was listed as Dan and there was an email address associated with the defendant was found upon it.

Daniel Golding, 32, admitted three charges of making by downloading images when he appeared at Mold Crown Court, together with possessing an extreme image.

It was the prosecution case that the defendant had between 2012 and 2017 viewed indecent images and had then deleted them, said prosecuting barrister Maria Massellis.

While file sharing software had been found the prosecution could not say that images had actually been shared, she explained.

He admitted making four level A images, the most serious, one at level B and two at level C.

The one extreme image related to sexual activity between a woman and a dog.

Golding, of High Street, Rhostyllen near Wrexham, was told by Judge Rhys Rowlands he had a stark choice - a rather short custodial sentence or a longer community order for his difficulties to be addressed.

The judge said that he had decided to impose a two year community order with 30 days rehabilitation.

He was also fined £1,000 with £535 costs and an £85 surcharge.

Judge Rowlands made a destruction order, ordered him to register with the police as a sec offender for five years, and he made a five year sexual harm prevention order.

Defending barrister Simon Mintz said his client had an excellent work record, and had recently been promoted to supervisor.

“It has been a humiliating 18 months. His only wish is to put these matters behind him so that he can continue with his lawful and productive life-style,” he said.

Mr Mintz said that fortunately there were a low number of images although it was accepted that they were all horrible.
