Donations are being collected to help a family rescued from a house fire in Flintshire.

Six people were taken to hospital following the incident on Alyn Road in the early hours of Sunday.

Costa Coffee's Buckley branch is now collecting donations to pass on to the displaced family as the local community rallies in their support.

A staff member said: "Following the news of a fire that has devastated a local family and their home, we will now we collecting donations to help the family rebuild their home and try to replace items that they have lost.

"We have a collection tin located by the till for those wanting to donate cash.

"We will also be accepting other donations of clothes and household items which we will pass onto the family.

"We look forward to seeing just how many Buckley people pop in to donate anything they can; however big or however small every single donation is greatly appreciated.

"Thank you Buckley, it’s amazing to see the community come together once again to help those at such a devastating time."

Following an investigation, police are treating the house fire as arson.

Bob Mason from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "These residents had a narrow escape as there was no smoke alarm in the property.

"I would appeal to all residents to ensure they have a smoke alarm and to test alarms regularly. Smoke alarms provide an early warning sign allowing you and your family to escape safely from a fire."
