A PRIMARY school team is celebrating after becoming cross country champions.
The team, from Ysgol Bryn Coch in Mold, had taken part in the North Wales Cross Country Series league.
Coach Jonathan Oldfield told the Leader he was delighted to see his school's competitors triumph in the final, which was held in Corwen on Saturday.
He said: "The team is made up of pupils in years three to six and we had about 20 runners in the under 11 category.
"We got there about an hour before the race and I walked the course with the pupils.
"They have training sessions every week during dinnertime and sometimes in PE sessions.
"They were delighted to win, really chuffed.
"It shows the hard work that they put in has paid off and it is a good activity to help them keep fit.
"I am really proud of them. They are going to have their medal presented to them next week by ex pupil Charlie Hulson, who now runs for Great Britain."
