A woman from Wrexham has been remanded in custody after she admitted two charges of attempted robbery.

Defendant Kayleigh Doughty will be sentenced in March when a psychiatric report has been prepared.

Doughty entered court from bail and her case was put back at one stage for a bail address to be checked out.

But when the case resumed defending barrister Benjamin Knight asked that bail be rescinded.

Judge Huw Rees, who was told that she did not have an address available to her, said that he had no alternative but to remand her in custody β€œon your own application.”

Doughty, 29, formerly of Coed Aben in Wrexham, admitted attempted robbery at The Hungry Inn in Prince Charles Road, Wrexham, on March 19 last year.

She also admitted a further attempted robbery on the same day at the nearby Co-op store.

The case was not opened publicly at this stage but prosecuting barrister Nicholas Williams told the court that they were very serious offences when she was disguised and in possession of a knife.

She was said to have had tights over her face on at least one occasion.

Mr Knight said that his client had been living in a refuge in Bridgend in South Wales but that address was no longer available to her.

But she was from Wrexham where her mother and brother still lived.

Later he said no bail address was available to her, she had mental health difficulties and he applied for her bail to be rescinded.
