MOTORISTS are experiencing delays due to a road closure after a traffic collision.

Drivers heading towards eastbound carriageway of the A55, Junction 33, near Flint, were advised to find alternative routes, after the incident which involved two vehicles and happened shortly before 7pm.

The fire service were called on to free casulaties from one of the vehicles.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: "Officers are currently dealing with an RTC at this location.

"The road is going to be closed for some time and it is affecting traffic using Northop Road and Starkey Lane. Please take an alternative route. Thank you."

The road is expected to be re-opened at around midnight.

A spokesman for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two pumps attended the incident, one from Mold and another from Flint.

"We went and released casualties from one of the vehicles, using a powerpack, hydraulic equipment , cutters and other small tools.

"The stop on the job came in shortly after 7.30pm."
