Five young people have suffered serious injuries after a road collision in Overton on Tuesday night.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the A528 Salop Road involving a blue Skoda Fabia shortly after 10.30pm.

Two females and three males - aged in the late teens / early 20s - were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Three were initially taken to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital and two were taken to the Countess of Hospital in Chester.

One female has since been transferred to hospital in Stoke with serious life changing injuries and one male has been transferred to Walton Hospital with serious injuries.

Sergeant Stephen Richards of the Roads Policing Unit said: "I am appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have been travelling along Salop Road around the time of the collision and who may have dash cam footage to contact us."
