NORTH WALES was among the coldest areas of the UK overnight as temperatures plummeted to well below freezing.
People would have noticed that their first day back at work after the New Year festivities is much colder than conditions of late, and many would have had to scrape the ice of their car following a sharp frost first thing.
Lows of -4C (25F) were recorded in the region in the early hours, making it the coldest place in Wales, with only Glasgow recording lower temperatures throughout the UK.
While a dry and sunny day is expected, temperatures are expected to peak at around 6C (43F), so people are urged to wrap up warm if heading out and about.
And conditions are expected to not any get any better tonight, with temperatures set to drop to well below freezing once again.
So if driving, vigilance is urged with icy roads a certainty.
