BEN TOLLITT has joined Wrexham on an initial short-term loan deal from Tranmere Rovers.

The 24-year-old forward/winger, who has made nine appearances in all competitions for the League Two club this season, graduated from the Everton youth system and was plucked out of non-league football by Portsmouth during the summer of 2015 after some impressive displays at Widnes and Skelmersdale United.

Portsmouth loaned Tollitt to Tranmere in 2016 and he impressed manager Micky Mellon who made the deal permanent later in the season, and he helped the Prenton Park outfit clinch promotion back to the Football League via the play-offs last term.

But with starts limited this season, Tollitt had been allowed to join Wrexham and boost the Reds' promotion challenge in the National League.

Tollitt will not be available for tomorrow's clash at Aldershot Town but if international clearance is granted, he will be in line for his Wrexham debut in the Boxing Day top of the table clash with Salford City at The Racecourse.

Manager Graham Barrow said: “Ben has become available and I was very keen to get the deal done. He won’t be able to play against Aldershot tomorrow but the clearance will be through in time for the Christmas games.

“Ben is an exciting young player, a real pacey wide attacker. I have watched him many times over the past few years and he gets you off your seat.”
