PUPILS in Rhos showed how Christmas is very ‘deer’ to them when they joined in a unique run around their school grounds.

All of the 350 pupils at Ysgol Maes Y Mynydd got into the festive spirit by taking part in a Reindeer Run and helped raise £1,250 for Nightingale House Hospice.

The cold weather meant that a wider route around Ponciau Park had to be shelved, but the children completed their gallops around the school playing fields.

They were split into three groups with the nursery intake to Year 2 the first off around the playground. Years 3 and 4 followed and Years 5 and 6 completed the morning’s fun.

Antlers were provided by Nightingale House and the day ended with an afternoon disco.

Jan Rowlands. headteacher, said: “All the children had a great time and they were all sponsored so we thank all their parents for their support in raising much needed funds for a very worthwhile cause.

“We did have a route planned for the older children but the weather was frosty so all the runners completed their distances around the school.”
