A LOCAL business aimed to bring their local community together this Christmas.

Children at Queensferry Primary School were asked to design a festive star in which the winner is placed on a Christmas tree for everyone to see.

Staff at Check Communications, based in Queensferry, came up with the idea to involve the pupils in a bid to bring the local community together as the winning design will also be printed onto wooden stars and cards which will be distributed out to existing customers and local businesses.

Cara Pepper, marketing manager, said: "It went fantastic, their designs were amazing. It was really good and all the children were so happy to receive prizes.

"It's the first year we've done something like this, we just wanted to involve the whole community.

"We wanted to reach out to local businesses and new and existing customers to wish them all a Merry Christmas and get everyone involved, we are all about communications and getting people together.

"We are based in Queensferry and chose the school because they are across the road from us so it allowed us to keep it local. We also wanted to make it a bit different because a lot of businesses are doing Christmas Card competitions."

Taking first place was Oliwia Siodla who received a £40 gift voucher, chocolates and a toy and received a certificate and smaller star with her design printed on it. Her design is also featured on the Christmas tree which is based outside the Check Communications office.

Victoria Siodla, Oliwia's sister, took second place and Cara said the artistic talent must run in the family.

She added: "They both ended up being sisters and gave each other a big hug when collecting their prizes."
