A YOUNG woman from Chester has worn a bikini for the first time in her adult life after shedding a third of her body weight.

Alexandra Duncan, 24, lost an incredible five stone after joining WW, formerly Weight Watchers.

After Christmas last year she weighed 15st 11lbs and decided it was time to ditch the chocolate and junk food.

A year on she is a svelte 10st 11lbs and had the confidence to show off her new figure while on holiday.

Alexandra, who lives in Blacon, said: “I love that through WW I feel full of energy and motivation. I had the confidence to wear a bikini for the first time in my adult life this year!”

Recounting her weight loss journey, Alexandra said she and her partner always used to eat out as they weren’t living together at the time.

“That was our thing,” she said. “My weight crept up but I was happy with how I was and I was happy with my size - or so I thought.

“But after Christmas in 2017 I decided I wanted to try and lose weight as I felt so tired and big all the time. I used to call at the garage for petrol and get a bottle of Coca Cola and a chocolate bar every time - that was a hard habit to break!”

Her mum was a wellness coach with WW so she had her own support network at home to help her along.

“My mum was very supportive and showed me how to use the app and use the WW scales so I had everything I needed to help me, I just needed to do it!” said Alexandra.

“I didn’t tell my mum what I weighed to start with but as I started losing it didn’t bother me, I was just proud of the fact I was losing and creating healthy habits for life.”

She continued: “By November I had got down to 11st and I felt fab. My partner and I bought our first house together and I carried on cooking healthy meals and doing the plan. It wasn’t as easy as being at home but I knew I didn’t want to put weight back on!

“I feel healthier, fitter and when we got a dog I couldn’t wait to go out walking with him! We walk all the time, which is something I never did before losing the weight. You’d find me napping in the afternoon rather than out walking!”
