GRAHAM BARROW says Wrexham will be fired up as they attempt to pull off an upset against Newport County.

The sides meet at Rodney Parade in tonight's FA Cup second round replay with the winners progressing to a home game against Premier League side Leicester City in the New Year.

League Two high-fliers Newport are favourites but interim manager Barrow, who saw the first game end in a goalless draw, insists Wrexham will be ready for battle.

"We know it will be tough," said Barrow.

"I went down there early last year with Chesterfield and we played reasonably well first half.

"But they have a similar crowd to us, get right behind them, and their form at home is good.

"I think the draw was key to what sort of feeling you get for the game.

"Any footballer who has put a pair of boots on wants to play against a Premier League team, it doesn't make my job easier but the motivation is there for both teams and I don't feel frightened by that.

"The players really got on with it on Saturday and will be equally ready for Newport."

Saturday's 2-0 victory over Eastleigh leaves fourth placed Wrexham fourth points behind National League leaders Leyton Orient and with a game in hand on the three sides above them.

Although Wrexham are aiming to reach the third round of the cup tonight, Barrow, who has signed a new contract and will be assistant to the new Reds boss, has spelt out his target in the league.

"You look at the top of most of the leagues but this is as brutal as you can get," said Barrow.

"The competition is quite fierce in the top eight or so.

"This time last year Fylde were hovering just below halfway and they had a great run to get in the play-offs.

"Obviously you have to win it to go up which is a big call but it is not impossible, but the top three is a must for me.

"It is a home semi-final and I think if we get a home semi-final here, that was my aim when I first came to the club and it's not changed.

"I think if you aim for the top three you can always finish top so that has got to be our main aim."
